What are the weather conditions for flying?

In order to offer you a flight in the best possible conditions, we do not fly in the rain or in skies with a high risk of thunderstorms. Nor do we fly in southerly or easterly winds, or in winds that are too strong (over 40km/h) or too weak (under 10km/h).

Why is my flight canceled when paragliders are flying?

Tandem paragliding requires special conditions (which solo pilots can sometimes overcome). In order to guarantee you a quality experience, we regularly consult, analyze and check the various sites of paragliding weather forecastsradar and beacons at our disposal. The veracity of our forecasts is sometimes in doubt. It's a rare occurrence, but it's worth pointing out that some excellent forecasts that prompted us to organize a day of flying may be cancelled, and forecasts that are unsuitable for paragliding may also prove "flyable" from time to time. No structure can guarantee flights in advance.

Will my flight be maintained despite the rain forecast?

Conventional forecasts are generalized and unreliable for our activity, and when rain is forecast on the seaside, it is sometimes localized and short-lived, or even absent on the coast. Sometimes rain is forecast, but there's still plenty of flying to be done. We analyze the different forecasts in order to make the best decision to maximize your chance of flying, and save you an unnecessary trip. But we can't guarantee 100 % that your flight will take place on the day of your appointment, as the weather remains a variable factor.

How does the activity unfold?

We usually fly in the afternoon, but sometimes we fly in the morning or at sunset, depending on the weather. day's weather conditions. As the activity depends on the weather, which is a variable factor, plan to be on site for at least 2 hours. The wind doesn't always arrive at the time predicted by the weather models. Sometimes you have to wait, but the beach is a nice place to wait. Bring your beach gear if you wish (swimsuit, parasol, etc.). You might want to bring a windbreaker if you're feeling chilly, and water if it's hot.

The flight circuit depends on weather conditions, and sometimes on the length of the flight (with more time, we can sometimes go further afield). We can't guarantee a specific flight height or route, as we don't have an engine and we adapt to aerological conditions (our engine is the wind), so every flight is different.

It takes about 15 to 20 minutes to walk from the Petit Nice beach parking lot to the meeting point, next to the bunker. Once there, you'll find our green and white flag marking our meeting point. That's where we'll welcome you. If there's no one there, we're probably already in the air. Please wait for us there, and we'll come and see you as soon as our flight is over.

Depending on the wind's strength and direction, we'll have you move to the beach and climb the dune to take off from the most suitable area. There's no need to run at take-off: we generally take off and land seated (specific to the site) and in the same place. If there are accompanying persons, we ask them to stay on the beach for safety reasons.

Why can't I fly at the same time as my friend?

The link between the weight under sail (pilot + passenger) and wind power is essential.

Indeed, if the wind is light, we can easily fly with light weights, whereas heavier weights will fly in a stronger wind.

This is why the meeting times given are sometimes different. If you want to fly with family or friends of different weights, it's possible that you won't fly at the same time, so plan ahead. In the worst case, some people may not be able to fly, as wind conditions may not allow heavier passengers to fly.
